Food distribution system breaks down at Dacca

NEW DELHI, JULY 20- Some 30 million people in Bangladesh are uprooted and are away from their homes in search of food and security according to U.S. Embassy sources here, reports PTI.
Reports received by their sources from Dacca says that the transport system is paralysed and the food distribution arrangements have completely broken down.
The American sources emphasized that unless food and relief were rushed to these people in East Pakistan hunger and starvation might force many more millions to cross over to India.
We would rather feed them there (East Pakistan) rather than force them to go to India’s advantage to have these people fed in East Pakistan rather than in West Bengal, the sources said.
These sources acknowledge that it would prove to be a very difficult problem in working out a substantial relief programme before there was some kind of political accommodation.
