Yahya misleading world community : Samad

From Our Special Correspondent, NEW DELHI, JUNE. 12- Famine and epidemic had broken in East Bengal according to Mr. A Samad, the roving emissary of Bangladesh who had recently attended the Budapest Peace Congress and returned here.
Mr. Samad said in a statement that all assistance to Bangladesh people should be directed through the Government of Free Bangladesh. In no case assistance should be posted through Pakistani occupation forces in Bangladesh as that would lead to more suppression of “our people” , he added.
He conveyed his thanks to the international community for what they had been doing for Bangladesh, but he said this was not enough.
“Yahya Khan is trying to mislead the world community on the real state of affairs in Bangladesh. It is high time for different countries and the world community” to receive without delay reported representatives of the legally-constituted Government of Bangladesh. I have a special appeal to U Thant the UN Secretary-General to allow Bangladesh representatives to place their case before the UN particularly the Security Council. We appreciate U Thant’s appeal to different countries to provide assistance to the Bangladesh refugees on an emergency basis.
“I appeal to all Governments and the UN to use sanctions against Islamabad (1) for ending genocide and planned starvation of the people of Bangladesh, (2) for immediate withdrawal of the occupation force from Bangladesh and (3) for securing the safety and release of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the undisputed leader of Bangladesh.”
“The world should not sit idle when democracy is chained and throulled in Bangladesh.”
