Heinous role of W. Pak Press condemned

MUJIBNAGAR. MAY 21- Mr. Abidur Rahman editor of “The People”, an English daily of Dacca, yesterday appealed to the Commonwealth Press Union to start an inquiry against the members of its Pakistani unit and expel them from the Forum because of their “heinous role” against all established codes of free Press and humanity, says PTI.
Mr. Rahman in a statement on the “conspiracy by Yahya’s power-hungry military junta to confuse and mislead the world press” said that a section of West Pakistani Press had been assisting it in its evil design.
The Pakistan unit of the Commonwealth Press Union, Mr. Rahman said, was understood to have passed resolutions accusing the BBC, the British Press and the Indian news media of releasing “false news” on Bangladesh.
Mr. Rahman said that he was shocked to point out that the tutored West Pakistani Press had been playing a heinous role since March 25 by shamelessly “blacking out” the real news of Bangladesh.
The editor said that the West Pakistani Press did not utter a single word of protest when the Pakistani troops attacked the office of the English daily. “The People”, completely destroyed its press and killed 20 newsmen and Press staff and also burnt the “Ittefaq” Press.
