Two more Pak Generals purged

RAWALPINDI. JAN. 11-Two more Generals have been retired in President Bhutto’s purge of the Pakistani Army, an official announcement said, reports AP
They are Lt. General Irshad Ahmad Khan and Lt. General Sher Bahadur Khan.
Earlier, the daily New times reported that Mr. Bhutto had ordered the axing of five more Generals and three Brigadiers but Army spokesmen refused to comment.
The New Times said the list would include Major General Ehsanul Huq Mallk.
Military observers here had expected he would be a leading candidate to take the job of Chief of general Staff vacated by Lt.-General Gul Hassan Khan whom Mr. Bhutto named Acting Commander in Chief of the Army.
The list would bring to 30 the total of Army and Navy officers retired since December 20.
With the end of the war the Army has 45 Major-Generals. 13 Lt.Generals and two Generals.
The newspaper said “After the loss of East Pakistan this number was considered all the mire fantastic for a poor country like Pakistan.”
