More U.S. Aid For Pakistan
New Delhi, June 30. —The USA will give to Pakistan aid totalling Rs 4.27 crores to meet the cost of relief and rehabilitation in East Bengal and to acquire coastal boats for improving tansportation in the region, reports UNI.
Two agreements to this effect were signed in Islamabad today, according to Radio Pakistan.
of this amount, Rs 3.52 crores will be spent on relief and rehabilitation and the rest on securing coastal boats.
But the New York Times questioned the propriety of the USA continuing military and economic aid to Pakistan. It said in an editorial: “After months of equivocation and evasion, the State Department has finally made it clear that the Administration intends to keep on furnishing military and economic assistance to the Government of Pakistan despite continuing acts of repression in East Bengal.
