Mujib’s participation vital, says Bhutto

Mr. Z. A. Bhutto Chairman, Pakistan People’s Party said in Karachi last night that for any lasting solution of political problems, now facing the country views of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are essential. He said Mr. Mujibur Rahman is an important man and one must admit he has a big following.
He was talking to newsmen at the City Airport, where he had gone to receive the Awami League leader. But Mr. Rahman did not travel by the aircraft which arrived at 10 p.m. from Dacca.
NO CONTACT WITH DAC
RTC, Mr. Bhutto said, is not the only way for solution of political problems, now facing the country.
“I will discuss with Mr. Mujibur Rahman his views on various problems. It is only fair that I discuss with him and other leaders before deciding to join the talks with the Government,” he said.
He said he had no contact with DAC leaders. They all are in Rawalpindi. Telephone is being tapped and therefore I cannot discuss anything specific.
He said, he has discussed with East Pakistan MNAS, Mr. A. S. M. Sulaiman and Mr. Masihur Rahman about the recent disturbances in the Province, and said the situation in Dacca was very grim,”
APP adds:
“Innocent people are being killed on roads every day in Dacca and the people are not mad to get killed. They must be having some genuine reason for defving curfew.
“Myself and any party are greatly concerned with the events in East Pakistan,” he said.
About danger to his life and report about attempt to burn his house, he said, “I don’t give importance to these matters. Attempts had been made in the past and I have experience. I know how the regime behaves.” he added.
Replying to a question, he said that he had not yet decided to participate in the Round Table Conference. He said the RTC was not the only solution to the present crisis.
Replying to another question he said that the question of his Presidential candidature had receded to the background “First we should discuss the crisis,” he said.
