Mujib will be at conference table as free man: says Tajuddin
LAHORE Feb. 18 (APP ) : Mr. Tajuddin, General Secretary of the Awami League (Six Pointers) said here today that he had been given an understanding that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman would, come to the conference table as a “free man”.
He was talking to newsmen at Lahore airport on his way from Dacca to Rawalpindi.
When asked whether the understanding was given by the Government or the Democratic Action Committee, Mr. Tajuddin said he had received a telephonic call yesterday in this regard from Mr. Sabur’s house. Mr. Farid Ahmad was talking on telephone and he was told that Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan was also present there.
Replying to a question he said that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman would come to attend the conference only if he was released.
Asked whether his party would not attend the dialogue in the absence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Mr. Tajuddin said “it is impossible because he is the only nominee of the Awami League and he is also to nominate his associate at the conference and this position has been accepted by the President.”
