Delhi will not allow Masud to work against India

NEW DELHI, June 1.-The External Affairs Minister, Mr. Swaran Singh, said in the Rajya Sabha today that the Government would take all precautions to ensure that Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Mahdi Masud, did not indulge in “nefarious activities in Calcutta”, reports UNI.
The Minister was replying to Mr. Chitta Basu (FB) who has earlier, said that Mr. Masud should be declared persona non grata for his “antiIndian activities”. He was trying to collect donations for the “Save Pakistan Fund.” Mr. Basu added.
Mr. Swaran Singh, however, said that there was no need for declaring Mr. Masud as persona non grata as he had to leave India following the Government’s decision to close down the Pakistani’s Mission in Calcutta. Efforts were also being made to secure the repatriation of India’s Deputy High Commissioner in Dacca, he added.
Mr. Sawran Singh agreed with Mr. Bhupesh Gupta (CPI) that the staff of India’s Mission in Dacca was experiencing great difficulties. This was the reason why India was trying to expedite the repatriation of its staff, he added.
Mr. Chitta Basu also said that Mr. Masud was throwing parties to pro-Pakistani elements in Calcutta. His objective was to create communal trouble to divert the attention of the people from freedom struggle in Bangladesh. Mr Masud was mixing frequently with people of doubtful integrity, he added.
