Indian military experts being consulted
From Our London Office, AUGUST 1.-With Yahya Khan’s repeated threat of war against India giving the impression that the war between the two countries is round the corner, it is natural that Gen. J. N. Choudhury and other Indian military experts are being or will be consulted by the Government of India.
Sir Aice Douglas Home’s statement on last Friday spelling out the precise conditions for any resumption of the British Government’s development aid to Pakistan did not satisfy the Pakistan regime. He said. “The nature of a political settlement is a matter for the Government of Pakistan. We are anxious to see such a settlement as soon as possible so that there may be a political and administrative framework to manage the aid for development which is so necessary for East Pakistan.
Gen. Yahya Khan is to visit East Bengal within the next few days.
He is understood to be carrying a draft of his constitution about which he will consult with the East Bengali legislatiors who have not been “disqualified.”
