UDHAMPUR, DEC. 23.—The Chief of the Army Staff, Gen. S. H. F. J. Manekshaw, said today that Pakistan shall be “doubly smothered” if it attacked India again, reports UNI.
Addressing the soldiers on the banks of Manawar Tawi. Gen. Manekshaw said: “We do not know the intentions of Pakistan whose leaders have already started talking of taking revenge.”
“That is why there is greater need to keep vigilant and alert, he added.
Gen. Manekshaw paid handsome tribute to the bravery of the jawans. “We had given a fitting reply to Pakistan. The Indian Army has never achieved so much in so short a time since independence,” he claimed.
