Yahya aide resigns
KARACHI, October 13: President Yahya Khan’s Law Adviser. Mr. A. R. Cornelius, has tendered his resignation and requested the President to accept it as early as possible, it was learnt here today, reports DPA.
Mr. Cornelius has resigned “in view of the attack on his integrity by the Peoples Party Chief, Mr. Z. A. Bhutto.”
Mr. Cornelius has covered to the President that his remaining in office will embarass the President and will also render every line and word in the Presidents’ proposed constitution liable to the worst suspicion.
A former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Cornelius was heading a committee to experts appointed by President Yahya Khan to draft a new constitution for Pakistan.
Mr. Bhutto had criticised his appointment saying Mr. Cornelius was a Christian and could not be expected to frame an Islamic constitution for a country which is predominantly Muslim. UNI.
