PM seeks people’s support for Bangladesh policy

NEW DELHI, July 27.—The Prime Minister today called upon the people to strengthen the Government’s hands by supporting its policies on Bangladesh, reports UNI.
She said that there could be issues on which difference of opinion was possible. But to show disagreement on Bangladesh policies was wrong because it was an international question facing the country.
Mrs. Gandhi was addressing office-bearers and members of the Constructive Workers Association who had called at her residence this morning.
Mrs. Gandhi said that on the one hand the leaders were assuring her of their support and on the other all types of posters were appearing criticising her.
Mrs. Gandhi noted that certain organisations were not at all concerned about Bangladesh. Their sole concern was gain to their party.
Warning of difficult days ahead, Mrs. Gandhi said the entire country would have to share at least a part of the burden of the Bangladesh refugees.
But, she assured, “we will be able to face the challenge if people show courage, patience and stand solidly behind the Government.”
