Allegation by Pakistan
New Delhi, April 26, Pakistan today alleged that India had violated the 1961 Geneva Convention, says Radio Pakistan. A foreign office spokesman in Islamabad was reported to have claimed that Pakistan had “fully respected” this Convention. He alleged that despite unequivocal assurances, India had failed to restore the premisses, property and records of Pakistan Deputy High Commission in Calcutta. He said as a result of this Pakistan had to close down its Calcutta Mission
The spokesman said Pakistan had also proposed that the premises, archives and funds of the Pakistani mission in Calcutta and Indian mission in Dacca be taken over by their respective High Commissions. He said Indian replay was a waited. The spokesman described as “propaganda stunt” India’s request to give assurances about facilities to its mission staff in Dacca. He maintained they were “Safe and sound” while there was no news about the Pakistani personnel in Calcutta, — (UNI)
