Mujib-Ata Differences:
Rapprochement Talks Begin
By a Staff Reporter
Efforts at bringing about a rapprochement between Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Secretary of the Awami League in East Pakistan, who resigned his office on Tuesday last, and Mr. Ataur Rahman, Chief Minister, have begun in Dacca yesterday, according to wellinformed sources.
These sources, however, said that there was little likelihood of these talks materialising as Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is gradually losing interest in the post of the Secretary of the Party, which carries a heavy burden. These sources also emphasized that of late Shaikh Mujib has been keeping indifferent health and may insist on rest.
Rapprochement talks were believed to have begun last night at an Iftar Party held at the Chief Minister’s residence which was attended among others by Mr. H. S. Suhrawardy, the Awami League Chief. The question will come up formally at the Organising Committee meeting tomorrow. Also discussed at the informal meeting was the nomination of the Awami League candidate for the Parliament. He is Mr. Aziz uddin, Shaikh Mujibur Rahman told “Morning News” last night Polling will start at 8 am. today and will continue for two hours. He declined to say anything about his resignation.
