Mujib Condemns Ban on “Mirror”
By A Staff Reporter
East Pakistan Awami League general secretary Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a statement yesterday “condemned” the Central Government’s “undemocratic action”in banning the monthly social magazine “Mirror”.
The statement said:
“I strongly condemn Pakistan Government’s undemocratic action in banning the publication of “The Mirror” of Karachi. It is now clear that the present coalition Government at the Centre has started suppressing public opinion, “The Mirror” being the first victim. Is it because its learned Editor, Mrs. Zebunessa Hamidullah joined the Awami League? Their resort to Pakistan Safety Act is surely for the safety of their “Gaddiæ. I am sure all sections of public opinion, specially the Press will take a serious exception of this.”
