Mujib’s Appeal for Befitting
Reception To Suhrawrdy
By A Staff Reporter
The General Secretary of the East Pakistan Awami League, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman yesterday appealed to the people of Dacca to accord a “Bentting reception to Mr. H. S. Suhrawardy on his arrival here on Oct. 25.
Mr. Rahman also urged the people to attend in large numbers of public meeting which the former Premier was scheduled to address on the same day at Paltan Maidan. In a statement issued yesterday, the Awami Secretary said: “Our great leader, Mr. H. S. Suhrawardy, is arriving in Dacca on Friday at 12 noon by PIA at the Tejgaon airport. A public meeting to be addressed by Mr. Suhrawardy at Paltan Maidan at 4 p.m. that day has been sponsored by the Dacca City Awami League. “The undemocratic way in which he has been removed from Prime Ministership by the reactionary forces and the constitutional head, the President and his refusal to call the National Assembly advised by the Prime Minister to test if he commanded majority in the Parliament are all not only an insult to him but to the democratic forces of Pakistan.”
The people of Pakistan, specially of East Pakistan are grateful to Mr. suhrawardy for what he had done for the country during the 13 months of his office. We are specially grateful to him that he is taking the first opportunity of visiting this part of the country to see the people here after his removal.”
