Sk. Mujib Hopeful of Closer Sino-Pak Ties

PEKING, July 10: Co-operation between China and Pakistan would grow steadily closer, said Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, leader of the Pakistan Parliamentary delegation, at a banquet given by him this evening.
According to a New China news agency despatch, Liu Shao Chi, Chairman of the National People’s Congress, was among the guests present.
Remarking to the delegation’s stay in China Mr. Rahman said, “We carry back with us the impression of a people resolute and industrious working hard under wise leadership.”
He continued, “though our social systems and form of Government may be different, the peoples of our countries work for a common objective. our people’s welfare in the social economic and political fields, and we trust that there will be still greater means for contact between our two peoples to promote their happiness and wellbeing.
“We believe in peace and its indivisibility and as such we feel that the problems of the weak nations are as important as the problems of the great ones.
“We believe in truth, justice, and only by co-operation amongst nations on these solid foundations can be world be a much better place for mankind.
“I express the hope that all nations of the world, particularly those in Asia, will subscribe to the letter and spirit enshrined in the United Nations Charter and the Bandung decisions in the interests of mutual benefit and human progress.”
Liu Shao Chi said that the delegation’s visit” has further strengthened the friendship between the peoples of China and Pakistan. He added that the Chinese people treasured this friendship, “because it is not only in keeping with the interests of the peoples of our two countries, but is also beneficial to the cause peace in Asia and the world. “We wish the people of Pakistan great new achievements in safeguarding their national independence and in their work of national construction, Liu Shao Chi said. -APP.
