UF Members’ Overtures

Karachi, April. 16 (APP): Sk. Mujibur Rahman East Pakistan’s Minister for Industries and the General Secretary of the Awami League, said here today he was not aware of any overtures on the part of some United Front members to join his Party.
Replying to Pressmen’s queries here today, Sk. Mujibur Rahman stated that United Front members were welcome to join the Awami League if they were prepared to come in unconditionally. He said, he had finally decided to resign as the Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce. He would resign his Cabinet post before the end of May next and devote himself exclusively to organising and strengthening the Awami League. He said he was hopeful that Maulana Bhashani would visit West Pakistan shortly. The Maulana, according to his information, was at present in the mofussil areas and it was difficult to communicate with him directly.
However, he added, the Maulana had received the message sent to him by Mr. Ataur Rahman Khan, East Pakistan’s Chief Minister, and himself, requesting him to visit West Pakistan. He was hopeful that the Maulana would undertake the trip.
