Mujib Criticises Past Govts.

Faridpur, Mar. 2 (APP): Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, East Pakistan Commerce and Industries Minister, emphasizing the prime need of weeding out corruption that had vitally affected the present society said unless we get rid of corruption, it is absolutely impossible on our part to force ahead.
Addressing a public meeting on Thursday at Krishnapurhat, 10 miles off here, the Minister referred to the present “condition of the province and bitterly criticized the past Governments for their apathy towards the causes of the common people. He also related the repressive measure of the past regimes taken to suppress the movements of the masses. Mr. Rahman referred to the critical time when the present regime tools office and said that the food problem was then raging in the country and it was through untiring efforts of the Government that the people were saved from impending calamity. About the local grievances he assured his help in redressing them. Referring to Kashmir, he reiterated the Government’s stand for free and impartial plebiscite for the Kashmiris to decide the issue. Later addressing a conference of the primary school teachers, he assured all possible help in meeting their grievances. He however asked them not to be impatient if all their grievances resulting from long neglect could not be met immediately.
