Mujib Expresses Satisfaction

The East Pakistan Commerce, Labour and Industries Minister, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who arrived in Dacca yesterday afternoon from Karachi, expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the high level Industries Conference held in the Federal capital, reports APP. The Minister, who led the provincial team to the conference told newsmen that his Party’s promises of bringing industries under the provincial administration had met with success. He said many decisions, taken at the conference, would be of great advantage to this province.
Mr. Rahman added, “For long nine years the people of East Pakistan have suffered so much so that they lost purchasing power, because the Central Government had failed to industrialize East Pakistan. The representatives of the Muslim League and the United Front had surrendered the demands of East Pakistan for their own interests.
“It requires 25 years for East Pakistan to be at par with West Pakistan so far as commerce industries are concerned”, he said. “This is the first time in the history of Pakistan that such a conference was held and our Party promised that if they came to power industry will definitely come to the hands of the Provincial Government. We are successful. We have got back many important subjects under the provincial administration.” Thirty thousand tons of cement would arrive at an early date, he disclosed.
Replying to a question, Mr. Rahman said there was “no chance of a rift in the Awami League Party,” which, he added, was a disciplined organization. He declined to comment on Mr. Suhrawardy’s directive to Mr. Usmani, Awami League Secretary, to resign.
