Undemocratic, Says Mujib
KARACHI, Jan. 8 t- Mr. Mujibur Rahman, Secretary of the Awami League Assembly Party today deceribed the Constitution Bill, 1956, to be introduced in the Constituent assembly tomorrow, as “undemocratic and hypothetical”. He said his party will decide “very soon” the course of action it would adopt in this connection. He told the APP that the draft of the Constitution Bill will shock all lovers of democracy. Enormity of disrespect of public opinion shown in the Bill is unprecidented. This Bill, therefore, will be quite unacceptable to the people of Pakistan in general and the people of East Pakistan in particular as none of their demands as embodied in the 21-Point Programme has been accepted in the Bill. Betrayal of the solemn pledges given to the people is most flagrant in repect of regional autonomy Bengali as one of the state languages, joint electorate and parity in all respects. The people of Pakistan particularly of East Pakistan will never forgive the framers of this undmocratic and hypothetical bill, particularly the members of the so-called United Front Party who have so brazen-facedly betrayed the solemn election pledges for a mess of pottage. We are going to decide very soon the course of action of our party which our organisation would take in this matter.” – APP
