Sk. Mujib on Confusion
About ‘Resistance Day’

KARACHI, Feb. 1st- Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, MCA, General Secretary East Pakistan Awami League in a statement issued to the Press today said.
“I was surprised to find news appering in papers in this part of the country which tended to create a lot of confusion regarding the ‘Resistance day’ observed in East Bengal on January 29. This day was declared to be observed about 15 days before by Maulana Bhashani and when the preparations were a foot some persons selected the same day for protesting against the insulting expressions used by some sections of the Indian Press against our Holy Prophet. While we had the fullest sympathy and support for such a meeting to ventilate our sentiments against such outrageous attacks, we had very grave suspicion as regards the selection of the time and the date for the purpose. We had our experience of this type when in order to baffle our objective some people used to take it to their head to cresase a sort of clash where there should be none, under the garb of legitimate and innocent activities by playing up the sentiments of the people.” -APP.
