Talks with Awamis For Cabinet Coalition Reported

KARACHI, Aug, 7: Central Finance Minister Choudhry Mohammed Ali was elected leader of the Muslim League Parliamentary Party after a six hour meeting here this evening. Mr. Abdullah Yusuf Haroon was elected Secretary of the party.
AWAMIS’S 3 CONDITIONS
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, General Secretary of the Awami League, reiterated before newsmen here his party’s three conditions on which they would go into a coalition with the Muslim League. The three conditions, according to him, are: (1) The coalition cabinet to be headed by Mr. H. S. Suhrawardy; (2) Provision for regional autonomy and joint electorate in the new constitution; and (3) acceptance of Bengali as a state language. The Awami League it may be recalled, has since long been willing to accept parity and back the one unit proposal in return for the fulfilment of it three conditions. Hectic political activity continued in he capital today as parleys neared a climax setting a pace for a major reshuffle in the eightmonth-old Central Cabinet. Leaders of the United Front laid their cards bare after having a conference with Prime Minister Mohammed Ali and other Muslim League leaders from West Pakistan this morning. Contact was at the same time being maintained between Mr. Suhrawardy and his supporters as also between Mr. Suhrawardy and the Muslim League group. Later in the day there were separate group meetings. The issue is expected to be clinched by tonight or early tomorrow morning. The Muslim League Assembly party is due to meet this evening to take stock of the situation and make up its mind about party alignments and important pieces of proposed legislation.
