Bloodshed & Litigation Threat On Karachi Merger
Furore Over Ruling Against Speeches in Bengali

KARACHI Sept. 21:- Clause 2 of the One-Unit Bill remained under discussion in the Constituent Assembly today.. Mr. H. S. Suhrawardy was winding up the debate on behalf of the Opposition when the House adjourned to meet again tomorrow at 2.30 P. M. Deputy Speaker Mr. C. E. Gibbon today occupied the chair when Mr. Abdul Wahab Khan, Speaker, left the House during the middle of the proceeding. A lively debate ensued on his ruling that since he could not understand Bengali, he would not allow any member to speak in Bengali. The members from East Bengal, including Mr. A. K. Fazlul Huq. Leader of the United Front Party and Mr. H. S. Suhrawardy, leader of the Awami League, joined the debate asking the Deputy Speaker to revise his ruling in view of the fact that Mr. Abdul Wahab Khan, Speaker, had been allowing Pushtu, Urdu and Bengali in the House.
BLOODSHED THREATENED
Mr. Mujibur Rahman (AL) threatened that there might be bloodshed in East Bengal over the inclusion of Karachi in the One-Unit. About a dozen Members today Participated in the proceedings of the House of whom 9 belonged to the Awami League with the exception of one Mr. Abdus Salam (Bawhalpur) they all opposed practically all the provisions of the clause.
