SK. MUJIB ON CHOLERA VICTIMS
Govt Urged To Rush Medical Help
Mr. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, General Secretary, East Pakistan Awami Muslim League, has issued the following statement to the Press:
The outbreak of cholera in an epidemic form in various districts of East Bengal, especially Faridpur, Mymensingh, Jessore, Bakherganj, Dacca, Noakhali and Khulna and the consequent death of hundreds of people, which is nothing but the recurrence of one of the tragic calamities befalling the poor and unfortunate people of this Province. has shocked me very deeply. I personally know that cholera has been taking its toll in Gopalganj Sub-Division for about three months and the death roll there would exceed 500.
It is a tragedy in this age that the poor people in our country fall victims to cholera and other diseases for want of pure drinking water and minimum sanitary requirements.
