Nixon refuses to call it diplomatic reverse of USA
WASHINGTON, Dec. 23.-President Nixon, refuses to see India’s victory in the war with Pakistan as a diplomatic reverse for the USA despite his Government’s strong support for Pakistan at the United Nations and elsewhere, reports AFP.
An official review of the Nixon Administration’s third year, published yesterday discussed American efforts to reach a settlement as one of the President’s peace initiatives.
The review made no reference either to US accusations of “aggressions against India, or to official American sympathy for Pakistan’s case.
The review said: “As stablity in South Asia declined during 1971, the President undertook a determined effort both to avert famine and to prevent war.
