Mujib urges Govt.: Ensure fair price of foodgrains
The Awami League Chief, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today warned against the machination of a section of businessmen to play foul with the foodgrains in the province, reports PPI.
In a statement to the Press in Dacca on Tuesday he expressed grave concern at the soaring prices of rice and other essential commodities which have hard hit the common men at large.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who returned to Dacca after a brief visit to his village home said that people in many places have been exposed to almost famine condition.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said that he was watching the situation with anxiety and agony and cautioned that the people would never allow anyone to take advantage of the situation and permit the hoarder and black marketers to play with the life of the people.
He emphatically said that, if need be people would deal with them if this anti-social elements did not behave properly.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman deplored in strongest terms the inaction of the government caused by the soaring price of food grains and essential commodities.
At the same time he urged upon the Government to ensure adequate supply of foodgrains all over the province and make arrangement for fair price supply of rice to the needy regions.
Sheikh Mujib also asked the Government to introduce statutory and modified rationing in different regions wherever required, besides arrangement for foodgrains at subsidised rate and test relief for the needy people.
Sheikh Mujib also called for immediate attention to the growing unemployment particularly among the peasantry and villagers and urged the Government to take note of the conditions of these common men and take measures to counter them for their relief.
