By Our Staff Correspondent
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President of the Awami League, will take up the problems of Karachi with the Government for finding a permanent solution.
The President of the Karachi Provincial Awami League, Syed Abu Asim in a Press statement yesterday said “the Sheikh will champion the cause of Karachi as it has always been dear to him. and Karachiites have always regarded him as the saviour of the nation.”
All problems facing at present by the Karachiites would be placed before the Organising Committee of the All Pakistan Awami League for detail discussion, he said.
He expressed confidence that “Karachi will get its due through the efforts of the Sheikh what the present regime has snatched away.”
He cautioned the people to be always on the alert as “constant vigilance is the only guarantee of the freedom of the people.”
“The Round Table Conference”, “he stated, “should not be misunderstood as the goal in itself-it is the only means to an end. It is a war of wit on the table, more intricate, delicate, critical, crucial, and decisive.”
The problems which would be voiced by the Sheikh, Mr. Asim maintained, related to those of the students, University Ordinance, problems of teachers, doctors, journalists, labourers, and the Press Ordinance. Besides, the problems of the residents of Lyari, unsettled refugees, Martial Law regulation, 89, water scarcity and other problems faced by the people of Karachi would be discussed at the forthcoming meeting.
