Pakistani Army seeks Navy’s support
AGARTALA, JULY 31- In the face of accelerated guerilla activity in the Barisal area in Jessore sector, the Pakistan Army has called the Naval support it, according to reports from across the border says P.T.I
Other reports said that several Pakistani troops were killed or injured when an Army patrol was ambushed by freedom fighters on July 23 in Sylhet sector. Some more troops were killed in a surprise attack by the libération forces near Jaflang the following day.
On July 26, two Army personnel lost their lives in Sunamganj area when their boat was ambushed by the guerillas. Freedom fighters killed more then half a dozen Pakistani soldiers in another clash on July 28.
Many Pakistani solders in the Chandpur sector have not received their monthly salary owing to the highly disturbed conditions prevailing there.
In this sector the Mukti Bahini uprooted the railway track near Kalliganj. The Pakistan Army personnel who came to repair the track suffered heavily.
On July 26 at least seven soldiers died and many others were injured when an Army truck exploded near Bhurungamari.
The guerillas have derailed several bogies of a train recently at Chinispur on the west of Narshindi near Dacca by laying mines, disrupted telephone system between Bajitpur, Kishoreganj and Bhairab, damageda Pakistani Army motor launch and blew up a small railway bridge between Sayestaganj and Srimangal in Sylhet district.
A Coochibehar report says the Pak Army opened fire with machineguns eight times on the Indian territory of Gitaldaha in Coochbehar district form Moghalhat in Rangpur district between July 26 and 30.
Border security Force replied to the Pakistani guns effectively. There was no casualty on the Indian side.
According to a Jalpaiguri report a band of armed Razakars supported by Pakistani troops infiltrated into the Indian border village Khalpara, a mile away from Haldibari in Jalpaiguri district, and carried away two girls on the night of July 29.
In protest against the alleged “inaction of the border security men, students of all the educational institutions at Haldibari abstained from their classes yesterday and later submitted a memorandum to the BSF demanding immediate inquiry into the matter.
Our Majdia Correspondent adds: At Darsana, the Mukti Fouj destroyed the Pak Army camp on Thursday located within the sugar mill there. Next day, the Mukti Fouj killed about 50 Pak troops and some Razakars who took position behind the bunkers here. The remaining Pak troops thereafter fled from the place.
