3 Pak soldiers killed as BSF returns fire

KRISHNAGAR, OCT 7— Three Pakistani soldiers were killed in an exchange of fire with the Indian Border Security force across the Gede border in Nadia district at four this afternoon, it is officially learnt today, reports PTI.
Pakistani troops started unprovoked firing at Indian positions at Shikarpur and Gede in Nadia district almost simultaneously this afternoon.
The Border Security force fired back from Shikarpur 20 minutes after Pakistani shells had landed on the Indian border villages of Raninagar, Kurmi and Shikaypur from 100 kilometers from here.
The report said Indian shells blew up and demolished the newly-build Pakistani trenches and bunkers constructed over a stretch of 2,000 yards of land on the bordering Garura and Dang in Kusthia district of Bangladesh where from Pakistani troops mounted firing this afternoon, the report said.
No casualty was reported on the Indian side till seven tonight when firing was continuing.
Pakistani troops resorted to heavy shelling at Sutarkandi area in the Karimganj sector in Cachar district of Assam this afternoon official sources said at Gauhati.
Five shells fired by the Pakistani troops fell inside the Indian territory at Sutarkandi.
Meanwhile, heavy Pakistani military concentration was seen in the Ferozpur sector yesterday morning along the right bank of Sutlej river.
A PTI correspondent who visited Hussainiwala border point on Wednesday, was informed that abnormal activities were noticed in Pakistan area. For over two hours since early morning a thick layer of dust hung over the area. It was believed that heavy artilery might have been moving along the Sutlej bank.
