“Inexcusable”
NEW DELHI July, 14.—The New York Times today severely criticised the U.S. Government for allowing arms shipments to Pakistan, says A. P.
It said that in view of the atrocities the Pakistan military regime has been committing in East Bengal, any further American arms aid to Pakistan would be “inexcusable.”
It said: “The report of a World Bank mission to East Bengal last month is a devasting indictment of the West Pakistan Military crackdown in East Bengal. It strongly challenges the administration’s policy of continuing both military and economic support for the Yahya regime in Islamabad.
“This official confirmation of earlier widespread reports of barbaric action in East Bengal renders inexcusable any further shipment of American Military equipment to the Pakistani armed forces.”
