Yahya’s Emissary Cuts Short Moscow Visit
MOSCOW, Sept. 8 Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary and personal emissary of President Yahya Khan Sultan Mohammed Khan, is returing home today cutting short his discussions with the Soviet Foreign Office, says PTI.
Mr. Khan met the Soviet Foreign Minister, Mr. Andrel Gromyko, on Monday and the Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Nikolai firyubin, yesterday. He was guest at a luncheon given by the Soviet Foreign Office whose officials he will entertain at a luncheon before he flies home.
Pakistani officials declined to give details of the talks but told Western correspondents that the visit of Mr. Khan was part of the continuing dialogue and had been arranged before the Indo-Soviet treaty was singed on August 9.
The main topic of Mr. Khan’s talks with the Soviet Foreign Office was known to be the situation in East Bengal. He acquainted the Soviet Government with the efforts of his Government to restore normality.
Mr. Khan was also known to have made attempts to probe the limits of the Indo-Soviet treaty obligations.
