Pak gunboat will have to leave Penag
PENANG JAN. 4-The Pakistani gunboat “Rajshahi” which arrived here during the Indo-Pakistan conflict will now have to leave as repairs to the ship cannot be carried out here, says AFP.
The resident naval officer, Mr. S. Thayaparan told the Captain of the Pakistani gunboat that they would have to go to Singapore or any other place to carry out repairs to the gunboat as there were facilities available here.
So far 24 members of the 47- members crew have already been flown back to West Pakistan. The remaining 23 have been confined to the boat since their arrival as they are not permitted to go on shore.
Meanwhile, 9 East Bengali, who arrived here on board the Japanese fishing vessel “Sachi Maru” have posed a problem to the local shipping agents. They have asked the ship’s agents to be sent back to Dacca immediately to join the Bangladesh Government. But the ship, which operated under an agreement with the west Pakistani Government cannot return to Dacca as it is unware of its present position with the Bangladesh Government.
