  • The war spread out as Pakistanattack the western frontier of India from air and land. Joint force of Bangladesh and India then start operations in the border areas. Indian army enters Bangladesh from seven points and attackPakistan army bases with full strength.
  • Indian PM Indira Gandhi cuts short her Kolkata visit and returns to New Delhi. In a radio speech for the nation, she says that Pakistan operated all-pervading attack on India. The nation has to deal with it at any cost. She asks Indian citizens to be ready for the ultimate sacrifice.
  • All flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) between East and West cancelled. The junta imposes curfew and blackout in Dhaka.
  • US Senator William Saxby tells journalists at Rawalpindi that he could not meet the banned Awami League leader Sheikh Mujib after several attempts.
  • Saran Singh, foreign minister of India, tells parliament in New Delhi that India was trying to convince the US and a few other countries for stopping Pakistani oppression in Bangladesh, but without avail. The arbitrary entrance of Bangladeshi refugees in India and shelling byPakistani army in the border areas are threatening India’s security.
  • The rebel 4th and 10th East Bengal Regiments advance from Feni and reach Rejumia Bridge. Captain Mahfuz of Sector 1 along with his force joins them. The joint force starts advanceon Chittagong by the Muhuri river and the Feni-Chittagong highway.
