  • The first batch of military officers passes from a 14-month training course near the Bhutan border. 61 young freedom fighters received the training and Cadet Officer Sayeed Ahmed received the chief lieutenant’s staff. Acting President Syed Nazrul Islam, Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed and chief lieutenant MAG Osmani are among others who are present in the ceremony.
  • Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, during an opening speech in All India Congress council held in Shimla, announced that Indian government is beside the rightful movement of Bangladesh’s people and will be beside them always. Her government will take the rightful step in any question regarding Bangladesh. India wanted to send back the refugees who had taken shelter inside its nation.
  • Muktibahini attack a Pakistan military camp in Khulna. One Pakistani military officer and 10 soldiers are killed while many others are injured. The freedom fighters took possession of the available arms and ammunition.
  • A team of Muktibahini fighters ambush a platoon of Pakistani military in Banpur sub-sector of sector 8. 11 Pakistani troopers are killed and a freedom fighter embrace martyrdom.
  • Rangpur’s Halidabari area Razakar commander Habibur Rahman surrendered to freedom fighters with huge arms and ammunition.
  • A huge number of Razakars surrender to the freedom fighters and pledged to join the pro-liberation forces.
  • Pakistan chief military ordinance governor General Yahya announces to lift the ordinance 76 and instead made effect of ordinance 94. Under this ordinance, a ban is placed on propaganda harming Pakistan’s solidarity and unity and instead the ban on political activity is lifted.
  • Pakistan representative in the United Nations, Shah Azizur Rahman, says the amount of refugees who had taken shelter in India is marginally above 20 lakh, and not 90 lakh.
