No political talks with Mujib allowed
DACCA, Dec. 15: The former chief of the Pakistan Air Force Air Marshal Asghar Khan has been refused permission by the authorities to meet the detained Awami League Chief, Shaikh Mujibur Rahman, now under military custody here. The Air Marshal, currently on a tour of East Pakistan, told newsmen at Hotel Shabagh this evening that he had sought the permission of the appropriate authority to meet the Shaikh at the Dacca Cantonment at 3 p.m. today. But, he said, the authorities had informed him over telephone today that he would not be allowed to meet Shaikh Mujib as none but the close relations of the Shaikh were entitled to meet him and as no political discussion with him by any body was permissible.
The authorities, he further complained, did not give any written reply to the Air Marshal’s application in this connection. He said, he was told to move the Inspector-General of Police in this regard, if he likes, but under no circumstances he was supposed to get the permission to meet Sheikh Sahib. -PPI.
