BANGLA DESH MISSION IN NEW YORK?

… Mahmud Ali, who recently abardoned from Pakistan High Commission in USA has said in an interview that.
“The aim of our mission will be to inforn the people of the United States about the resistance of the Bengali Nation against the atrocities committed by the west Pakistani army in our country,” he declared.
The 28 year-old ‘former’ Vice Consul in the Pakistani Consulate General in New York cut off his tips with the Pakistani Foreign Service about two weeks ago and sought political asylum in this country. His case is still inimmigration Department, but Ali appears confident that he will he granted a permanent resident visa soon.
In the absence of diplomatic recognition. Ali said he and his associates are planning to register their mission with the justice department as an organization under the foreign agents regulation act. Such, registration will enable them to carry on their political movement from this country.
Ali said he is also counting on the moral and financial support from about 2,000 East Bengalis living in North America. The East Pakistan League of America is major cultural organisation based in New York, has voiced its backing for the Bangla Desh movement, and decided to change its name to Bangla Desh League of America, Inc.
According to Ali, support for Bangla Desh is also gaining momentum in Great Britain workers he said, there are about 50 organisations representing 200,000 East Bengal Residents. The Bangla Desh League of America and Mahmaud Ali’s mission will also issue newsletters from time to inform the people of North America about the happenings in their homeland, Ali said.
