Sk. Mujib gets bail in Paltan speech case

Mr. M. H. Rahman, CSP, Sessions Judge, Dacca on Monday granted bail to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the case against him for alleged prejudicial speech on March 20, 1966 at Paltan Maidan.
In this case Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was convicted and awarded on April 27 a 15-month jail term under Rule 47(5) of the DPR by a Magistrate who held the trial inside Dacca Central Jail.
Sheikh Mujib appealed against this order of conviction on May 20 to the Sessions Judge.
The Session Judge admitted the appeal and fixed June 19 as the date of hearing.
Sheikh Mujib however, could not get release after the bail, for, his detention under Rule 32 of the DPR still continues.
