CML leader’s call to
release Mujib, others
DACCA, May 12: Three top leaders of the East Pakistan Council Muslim League have criticised the arrest of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and others under the DPR.
In a joint Press statement yesterday, Mr S. K. Khairuddin MNA, Vice-President; Mr A. Q. M. Shafiqul Islam, General Secretary; and Mr Ataul Huq, Joint Secretary of EPCML said that political opponents should be fought in political arena and the bar of the people should be given an opportunity to express their opinion in favour or against the programme of any political party.
They said that every party was free to place its own programme before the people for their acceptance or refusal.
They called upon the Government to release the Awami League leaders of East Pakistan forthwith and allow the people and political parties to honestly give their verdict on the programme and activities of the party.
They also demanded the release of all leaders who are detained under the DPR, in West Pakistan. –PPA.
