MUJIB ARRESTED AND PRODUCED IN COURT
SYLHET, April 22: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Awami League leader who was brought here under arrest from Dacca, was produced before, Mr. M.A. Ghani, Sub-Divisional officer, Sadar, today.
He was arrested on a non bailable warrant issued by S.D.O. Sadar, Sylhet, on a complaint lodged by the police for making an allegedly prejudicial speech at a meeting held at Sylhet Registrar Ground on March 14, under sections 153/A of Pakistan Penal Code, section 7/-3 of East Pakistan Public Safety Ordinance and section 47 (1) of the Defence of Pakistan Rules. The bail petition moved by Mr Abdul Hye, advocate, was rejected by the S.D.O.
Sheikh Mujib was arrested last night from his residence in Dacca and sent to Sylhet by train the same night. — APP.
