6-point programme should not be taken lightly, says Mujib
PABNA, April 8: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President of the East Pakistan Awami League, addressing a public meeting at the local Town Hall Maidan said yesterday his party’s six-point programme was not to be taken lightly and added “it was a magna carta not only for the people of East Pakistan but for those of West Pakistan as well”.
The meeting, which was addressed by other party leaders, namely khondkar Mushtaq Ahmed, Mr Tajuddin Ahmed, Mr Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, Shah Moazaam and Capt Mansuri Ali, was presided over by Mr Amjad Husain, MNA.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman explanted the six-point programme to his audience and called upon them to wage a relentless struggle for getting the programme fulfilled, since it was the surest way to make Pakistan really strong”.
He also called upon the party in power to be reasonable and logical while considering political issues.
He demanded “legitimate shares” for East Pakistan in the Armed Services and voiced his protest against what he called exploitation of East Pakistan in the economic field.
Earlier on arrival at Nagarbari Sheikh Sahib addressed a brief meeting of receptionists and gave them a call for unity and readiness for greater sacrifices.-PPA.
APP adds: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared that he would give up his six-point demand if the Government agreed to shift Pakistan’s Capital to East Pakistan.
