SWEEPING VICTORY FOR OPPOSITION
DURING ELECTIONS
Mujib’s hopes
DACCA, sept. 4: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, General Secetary of the East Pakistan Awami League, asserted here today that the forthcoming general election if held under a free atmosphere would bring “crushing defeat” to the Government party.
He was replying to the critics of the Opposition this evening on his return to Dacca after a week-long whirlwind tour of Sylhet district.
He was very much optimistic about the victory of the Opposition in the forthcoming election. He said the Opposition would achieve a sweeping victory in the elections if these were held without interference and intimidation.
The people he cautioned, would resist “tooth and nail” if the history of the last bye-elections was repeated by the Government party. -PPA
