Djakarta, June 22 (l0.):

Jayaprakash Narayan, elder non-political leader of India and winner of the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service in 1965 paid a 24-hour visit to Djakarta in the context of his world tour.

Mr. Narayan met with the vice Speaker of Parliament MajGen. Sjarif Thajeb, Secretary General Mrs. Artati Marzuki and had a discussion with senior newspaper editiors yesterday at the residence of the Indian Ambassador.

Mr. Narayan said that during his world tour he has found great sympathy for the East Pakistani refugee problem in all world capitals and feels that only a political settlement of the situation in Pakistan will bring about peace. He also stressed on the dangers of a Maoist takeover of the guerilla movement in East Pakistan.

Mr. Narayan also explained his Sarvodaya movement.

Jayopraksh Nariyan is presently descrbed as a Sarvodaya leader in India. Sarvadaya means the all-round Progress (material and spritual, social and political) of sections of the people. Mr. Naryan has dedicated himself to this movement which was started by many followers of Mahatma Gandhi to help the process of enabling the people of India to realise the social and economic content of their political freedom they had won on 15th August, 1947. Jayaprakash Narayan has also been an active participant in the Bhoodan movement (collecting land gifts for the landless peasants and farmer in India) started by Acharya Vinob Bhave. “spriritual heir” of Mahatma Gandhi….
