Letter to the editor
Sir,
Your editorial in the issue of April 6, entitled “Massacre in East Pakistan”, conceals several important facts in connection with reporting events In East Pakistan. The East Pakistanis voted for Mujib only for the reason that greater provincial autonomy will be enjoyed by them. Mujib had no mandate from the people to break away from Pakistan, which was created in 1947 after innumerable sacrifices by the 100 million Muslims of Indo-pakistan sub continent.
The public statetment of our leaders from East Pakistan proves beyond doubt that the people of that Wing never wanted to break away lest they fall victims to an imminent police action by India against them. India had occupied the Muslim State of Hyderabad Deccan by similar action in 1948.
Mujib created hatred between East and West Pakistan and treachrously joined hands with India to seperate East Pakistan from West Pakistan. He and his followers have met the fate that traitors deserve.
Let me point out that your concern about the so-called “war of genocide” in East Pakistan is unfounded. What happened to your concern for mankind when several lakh traitors were killed by Indonesian forces in 1965 rebellion. Would you feel the same way in case of Ceylonese action against the insurgents? The Indonesian action in 1965 was as justified and correct as it in case of Pakistan. No country can tolerate anti-state activity.
Yours etc.,
(Nazrul Islam Choudhary)
