The general fled leaving his map in the jeep
SILIGURI, DEC. 10.- The marked map which was found in the jeep abandoned by Major General Nazir Hussain Shah, GOC of the Pakistani Army, contained a wealth of information, according to a top Indian Army officer here, reports UNI.
The officer told a Press briefing today that the captured map, apart from giving vital information on the deployment of forces and troops in particular, also indicated the location of mines in Bangladesh.
Major General Shah and Brigadier Baig had abandoned the jeep in which they were traveling when they were caught in the thick of cross fire as the Indian Army was advancing towards Pirganj early this week.
Corps Commander M. L. Tapan showed newsmen the marked map and the identity card and the rank badges of Lt. Col. Raja Mohammad Sultan, who was killed in the battle of Pirganj.
