Pak saboteurs lying low in Karimganj area
From Our Own Correspondent, KARIMGANJ, SEPT. 3 – After the detection of two explosives on the Karimganj border near Lamajuar on the night of August 27 by the police no other sabotage activities have been reported on this border.
It is suspected that a large number of Pakistani agents have crossed over to the Karimganj border from Bangladesh to dislocate rail and road communications in Assam and Tripura. Tasaddar Ali, Chairman of the Union Council of Zakiganj within the Bangladesh border opposite Karimganj town, is in charge of recruiting youths, both from the Indian side of the border and from Bangladesh, for demolition training at Sylhet, Khadimngar, Gopalganj and other places and it is learnt that about 200 youths have already completed their training till now. Some youths from the Indian border have also joined the training course, according to a reliable source.
Almost all male members of Lamajuar village near Karimganj have left the village after train and ambulance car accidents by Pakistani mines near Lamajuar village on August 14 morning and the village is now inhabited by womenfolk.
According to Mukti Fauj headquarters in Bangladesh, the Pakistan army burnt more than 50 houses at Kanaighat (Sylhet) on September 2. On August 30 the Mukti Bahini captured at that place three Razakars and one Punjabi troop. The house of Col Usmani, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Mukti Fouj, situated at sylhet town, has been turned into the central office of Razakar Bahini.
