195 Pak troops killed in first week of this month
MUJIBNAGAR, SEPT, 11. – At least 195 West Pakistani troops and 45 Razakars were killed and over 100 others seriously injured when the Mukti Bahini guerillas launched a series of attacks on the enemy positions in Dacca, Noakhali and Comilla sectors during the first week of the current month according to reports received here, says PTI.
Of these 125 troops including Razakars were killed in intensified guerilla actions in the Comilla Feni sector of eastern Bangladesh on September 5.
According to reports reaching Agartala from across the border, the freedom fighters mopped up 47 Pakistani soldiers and 19 Razakars and injured 24 others in different engagements in the Feni sub divisional area.
Twelve Pakistani troops were wiped out by the liberation commandos at Parasuram in the same subdivision. The commandos also liquidated another 25 Pakistani troops including one officer at Bazankar also in the same areas.
The road bridge on the Dacca-Chittagong road at Bazankar was also blasted off by the Mukti Bahini mines.
The guerillas attacked a Pakistani Army position at Kadirbazar, south-east of Comilla and killed seven Pakistani troops including three Razakars. Nine others were wounded in the action. Ten Pakistani troops and two collaborators were shot down by Mukti Bahini gunners at Shahpur, the reports said.
The reports said the Bangladesh guerillas fought pitched battles with the Pakistani Army at Dholaikhal and Azimpur areas in Dacca, Nayanpur, Koteswar, Panj Surah, Janbari and Gazipur Bazar areas in north-eastern Comilla and at Parshuram and Fazilpur in Noakhali-Feni sector.
Mukti Bahini guerillas also seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition and food-grains from the occupation Army and destroyed a large number of enemy bunkers, road and railway bridges and electric poles in the areas.
