Mukti Bahini raids food godown at Jessore
AGARTALA, AUG. 27 – The Mukti Bahini is maintaining the increased tempo of their guerilla activity in Bangladesh, according to latest reports from across the border, reports UNI.
In Jessore, a large group of freedom fighters raided a food godown on August 17 and carried away the entire stock of grain after overpowering the godwon officials.
In Rangpur sector, guerillas destroyed two bridges in Raiganj area on August 22.
In Sylhet sector, the liberation forces beat back an army patrol in Jaflong area on August 19. They captured two Razakars with their arms the following day in the Sunamganj area. An embankment on the Kushiyara river in Zakiganj area was also blown up to hamper the movement of Pakistani soldiers.
In the Dacca-Mymensingh sector the Army is continuing its large-scale clearing operations.
Two Pakistani soldiers were killed in Uttardhalapara area, and the army suffered some more casualties while moving towards Jalopara area.
The army contingents in Rampur area, southeast of Madhopur, have been pinned down by the intensive firing sniping by the freedom fighters.
Clashes also occurred near Rajendrapur on the eastern banks of the Bansi river and in the Mymensingh area.
Strong currents in the rivers now swollen by the monsoon are making it difficult for the army to use river craft for moving troops and supplies desertions from the civil armed forces are continuing.
A 60-meter long bridge at a point five kilometers south of Chandpur was destroyed by the guerillas on Monday, the liberation army headquarters said today.
A report from across the border said that about 60-m railway lines were completely demolished between Feni and Laksham by a guerilla squad.
Twenty five Pakistani soldiers were killed when a truck carrying them was attacked with handgrenades by the same squad of Feni Chittagong road.
A delayed report said that 10 Razakars were killed by the guerilla fighters in the Baidya Bazar area of Dacca between August 14 and 23.
Seven Pakistani soldiers were killed and four bunkers were destroyed in Mandabhag area of Comilla in the guerilla operation on August 18 when the army camp was raided by the guerilla fighters. The same day three Pakistani soldiers who entered a house in Deopara in Feni to loot and assault women were killed inside the house.
Three Razakars were killed and their rifles captured at sarail in Brahmanbaria on Monday.
Mazzas Mia, a prominent Muslim League leader of Sarad who was helping the army also killed the same day by the gureillas.
