Rare disaster after World War II : Danish envoy

KRISHNAGAR, JULY 10. – Mr. H. A. Biering, Ambassador of Denmark in India, said here today that the international community should exert pressure on the Government of Islamabad to obtain a political solution to the Bangladesh issue, reports UNI.
Speaking to newsmen after visiting refugee camps at Kalyani and Bahadurpur in Nadia district. Mr. Biering said he understood the burden shouldered by India in alleviating the miseries of the refugees and appreciated her efforts in sheltering them. Mr. Biering said that what had happened in East Bengal was “a rare disaster” in history after World War II.
He apprehended an outbreak of famine in East Bengal in the near future which might increase the influx of refugees.
