Dacca-London tele-link restored
By A Staff Reporter, The tele-communication link between Dacca and London has been restored. A connection with Bangkok is likely to be established soon.
Giving this information at Mujibnagar on Tuesday, a spokesman of the Bangladesh Government said that the connection between Dacca and London was easier to establish than the link between Dhaka and Calcutta.
The spokesman said it had already been possible to restore Dacca’s telephone link with Chittagong, Sylhet, Faridpur and Comilla. The reason why the restoration could be made so quickly was that the sophisticated micro-wave telephone system in Bangladesh could not be totally destroyed by the retreating Pakistanis. Probably, they had no interest in destroying precision equipment since they did not understand the importance of anything but brute force, the spokesman suggested.
